CONTENT STANDARDS AND OBJECTIVES FOR WEST VIRGINIA SCHOOLS  (2520.1)

 

The West Virginia Standards for 21st Century Learning include the following components:

21st Century Content Standards and Objectives and 21st Century Learning Skills and Technology Tools. 

 

All West Virginia teachers are responsible for classroom instruction that integrates learning skills, technology tools and content standards and objectives.

1.  Create several stations including various informational resources.  Students will rotate through the stations, including electronic sources, examining and skimming through the available materials.  Choose several stopping points for students to discuss what they’ve read and observed as a class.

1.  The students will use Paint to create a picture of their families participating in an activity, such as eating dinner, swimming, playing a game (or something else of your choice.)  Print and share the pictures through story-telling.

Activities

1.  Set up stations in your classroom for students to rotate through.  Each station will contain a variety of resources with information regarding a subject of your choice, e.g. animals in Africa.  The students will view materials such as a pie chart with a break-down of various animals in Africa, picture books about the animals, or even a website about this subject.  The students must record information gathered at each station as a group.  This type of activity could be used as part of a class unit on animals in Africa or any subject of your choice.
