Guide to Using Distance Learning Lab in HC Schools

A Virtual Journey into the Universe (for grades 5 - 12)

This free online activity puts students in the cockpit of a space shuttle as they explore the solar system. Students land on each planet, where they find information about previous explorations of the planet, the planet's exterior features, composition, and satellites. Students can also engage in the interactive activities to learn more about various planetary features.

Virtual Space Tour (for grades 5 - 12)

An animated encyclopedia that allows students to take a virtual tour of space, learning about the unique features of comets, asteroids, and each planet along the way.

Celestia (for grades 5 - 12)

Celestia is a free space simulation that lets students explore the universe in three dimensions. Students can travel throughout the solar system to any of over 100,000 stars, or even beyond the galaxy.

Through live videoconferencing, students can participate in two-way and fully interactive conversations with museum educators. Programs are designed for grades K-5 and curriculum guides that include extension activities are included with each lesson.
