Scanners also may be used to gather information from printed materials in the library. Using measuring tools, students will create and laminate a bookmark using the graphics and information they found online. Obj 3: Students will work in small groups and use technology to develop a digital composition on a short story. (WVCSO: RLA.9.2.1, RLA.9.2.2, RLA.9.2.3, RLA.9.2.4, RLA.9.2.5, RLA.9.2.6, RLA.9.2.7, RLA.9.2.8, RLA.9.2.9, RLA.9.2.10, RLA.9.2.11, RLA.9.2.12, RLA.9.2.13, RLA.9.2.14, RLA.9.2.15, RLA.9.2.16, RLA.9.2.17, RLA.9.2.18, RLA.9.2.19, RLA.9.2.20, RLA.9.2.21, and RLA.9.2.22 Technology CSO: 21C.O.9-12.1.LS2, 21C.O.9-12.3.LS1, 21C.O.9-12.3.LS2, 21C.O.9-12.1.TT4, 21C.O.9-12.TT7, 21C.O.9-12.2.TT2, 21C.O.9-12.2.TT3, and 21C.O.9-12.3.TT7) · Using “Movie Maker”, students will create a “movie trailer” that highlights specific elements of an assigned short story. · Using space on Google, students will create a one page website detailing their assigned short story. · Using the online Brochure maker, students will create a brochure on their short story and author. Overview of Activities: Basic instructions on using the Movie Maker will be provided to the students so that they will have an idea of what they can do. Students will then create a written outline for their “movie trailer” of their short story. Once approved by the teacher, students will use the digital camera, web camera, and the software Movie Maker to create their “movie trailer”. Once all “movie trailers” have been started or finished, students will be assigned a Google account and provided with basic instructions on how to create a one page website. Then following a rubric, they will create a website to showcase their “movie trailer” Obj 4: Students will present their short stories to their peers. (WVCSO: RLA.9.3.1, RLA.9.3.2, RLA.9.3.3, RLA.9.3.4, and RLA.9.3.5: Technology CSO: 21C.O.9-12.2.TT3, and 21C.O.9-12.3.TT7) · During the Short Story Fair, student present their “movie trailers”, brochures, bookmarks and websites to their peers verbally. · Students will comment on their peers’ presentations. A chocolate fountain, popcorn and cupcakes will be available to all the “stars”. |
